At Harvey Furnishings we have been providing beautiful custom made curtains for New Zealand homes for over 50 years.

We offer our own ‘state-of-the-art’ workrooms – where we make up your curtains in Pencil Pleat; French Pleat; Dutch Pleat; New York Pleat; Inverted Pleat; Eyelet or Tab Top styles, using a huge range of stylish fabrics sourced from around the world. We have a wide range of our own exclusive direct-import fabric ranges along with the top designer brands. To co-ordinate with your new curtains, we also offer custom made Pelmets and more traditional curtain styles such as Swags and Tails.

Pencil Pleat
Custom made Pencil pleat curtains are made using a ‘gathered’ tape. Adjust the gather to fit the width of your curtain track or curtain rod. Suitable for all windows types. Can be installed either inside the frame or outside the frame using a wide range of curtain tracks and curtain rods. Suitable for thermal, lined, unlined or sheer fabrics. Curtain tape is also available in transparent for sheer fabrics and comes in assorted widths.

French Pleat
Custom made French pleat curtains are made with 3 pleats pinched & secured together in the heading (or top) of the curtain. Made to a fixed width to fit your curtain track or curtain rod. Suitable for all window types. Install outside of the window frame using a wide range of curtain tracks and curtain rods. Suitable for thermal, lined, unlined or sheer fabrics.

Dutch Pleat
Custom made Dutch pleat curtains are made with 2 pleats pinched & secured together in the heading (or top) of the curtain. Made to a fixed width to fit your curtain track or curtain rod. Suitable for all window types. Install on the outside of window frame using a wide range of curtain tracks and curtain rods. Suitable for thermal, lined, unlined or sheers fabrics.

New York Pleat
Custom made New York pleat curtains are made with 1 pleat pinched & secured together in the heading (or top) of the curtain. Made to a fixed width to fit your curtain track or curtain rod. Suitable for all window types. Install on the out side of the window frame using a wide range of curtain tracks and curtain rods. Suitable for thermal, lined, unlined or sheers fabrics.

Inverted Pleat
Custom made Inverted pleat curtains are made with a reversed single pleat in the heading (or top) of the curtain. Made to fixed width to fit your curtain track or curtain rod. Suitable for all window types. Install on the out side of the window frame using a wide range of curtain tracks and curtain rods. Best suited to rod tracks or curtain rods where the curtain hangs underneath the rod or track. Suitable for thermal, lined, unlined or sheers fabrics.

Eyelet
Custom made Eyelet curtains are made with an even number of holes punched across the top of the heading of the curtain, which then have metal eyelets inserted. Select from a range of coloured eyelets to co-ordinate with your fabric or your curtain rod. Suitable for all window types. Install on the outside of the window frame. Only suitable for curtain rods. Suitable for thermal, lined, unlined or sheers fabrics.

Tab Top
Custom made Tab Top curtains have a series of loops in fabric spaced evenly across the top of the curtain, that the curtain rod is then fed through. The tab depth and width will depend on the required finished look. Suitable for all window types. Install on the outside of window frame. Only suitable for curtain rods. Suited to light weight and sheer fabrics for ease of opening and closing. Not suited to thermal or heavy draped curtains.

Pelmets
Pelmets frame the top of your window. They conceal tracks; rods; and window frames you would prefer hidden from the eye. Suited to high stud windows and installed over the top of the window frame. Available in assorted styles, these are custom made to suit the curtain and track application. 

Swags & Tails
Swags & Tails give a traditional feel to your room. Suited to high stud windows and installed above the window frame. These are custom made to fit the curtain and track application. The number and the size of the swags will depend on the window’s width and depth. The tails are generally made to 1/3 of the length of the curtains. The edges can be left plain or trimmed with beading or fringing. Best suited to lined fabrics.
