Consumer Terms & Conditions

At Harvey Furnishings we understand how special your home is to you and your family.

We have proudly helped New Zealanders with quality curtains, blinds and other soft furnishings for their homes for over 50 years. With almost all of our curtains and blinds made in our “state-of-the-art’ workrooms, we provide a prompt turn-around with excellent quality control. We offer the following standard terms and conditions:

Consumers may have other rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. Please carefully read the conditions below.

  • Payment – Our company policy on Custom make jobs is 50% of agreed job total paid to the Representative on acceptance and the balance paid on collection, delivery or part-delivery if you install them otherwise to the installer upon installation of each delivery or part-delivery. The goods remain the sole property of Harvey Furnishings Limited and are subject to repossession until paid in full. Harvey Furnishings Ltd may register a financing statement over the goods in respect of any unpaid moneys, and may repossess goods.
  • Claims – We are very proud of our reputation and will put all issues right. We warrant everything we sell for 2 years against faulty workmanship and materials (excludes normal wear and tear and misuse). Please notify us promptly if you are unhappy with any aspect of the service or products we have supplied to you. Where you provide us with measurements or choose fabrics, and the products we supply comply with those measurements or fabric selections, you are responsible for ensuring that the measurements are accurate and the fabrics you choose are be suitable for your decorative needs.
  • Natural Fabrics – Some natural fabrics (Calico etc) have slight imperfections, weave, seeds and colour variances. These natural variations are not flaws or defects and will not be covered by warranty provided they are within reasonable tolerances for those products.
  • Budget Thermal Prints – These prints come in attractive designs and represent excellent value. They are made to a price and often contain small printing and weaving imperfections. These imperfections will not reduce the life of the fabric or detract from the overall appearance of the drapes, however they are not suitable for Roman Blinds (which will highlight any such imperfections).
  • Changing your mind – We do not have to accept return of goods where you have changed your mind, so please choose carefully. We may agree to accept change of mind returns of packaged goods (other than clearance items) but they must be returned in the original unopened packaging with proof of purchase within 14 days of purchase. We will not accept change of mind returns for clearance items, special orders, altered goods, or fabric and other products cut from rolls. This does not affect your rights in respect of faulty products.

Custom Made Service

Our Custom Made service is available through our FREE in-home consultation service and retail stores unless otherwise stated.

Pre-Packaged Product

Our retail stores offer a wide range of pre-packed product such as Readymade curtains and Readymade blinds. These products are not available through our FREE in-home consultation service.

5 Day Blind Making Conditions

Made to measure blinds in 5 days applies to selected custom made blind ranges only.

  • Made to Measure Vertical & Aluminium Venetian Blinds in 5 Days are available instore only. Offer is not available through our FREE in-home consultancy service. Blinds will be made in 5 working days subject to material availability. For orders placed after 2pm, the first business day following is day “ONE”. Lower North Island customers should allow 2 additional days for transit. South Island customers should allow 3 days.
  • Made to Measure Roller Blinds in 5 days are available in store or on-line only. Offer is not available through our FREE in-home consultancy service. Blinds will be made in 5 working days subject to material availability. For orders placed after 2pm, the first business day following is day “ONE”. Lower North Island customers should allow 2 additional days for transit. South Island customers should allow 3 days.
  • Please Note: Whilst we will be careful and reasonable at all times - we are not responsible for inaccurate measurements or transit damage. Where a customer has made an error in a fulfilled order - we will do our best to correct the blinds wherever possible. In such cases, however, materials, manufacturing and freight charges will apply.
  • Shipping and Handling for on-line orders. All goods are carefully packed. Should the goods be damaged upon delivery, then please contact us within 7 days. Shipping prices apply to mainland New Zealand only.
  • Credit Card Security. We use fully secure shopping cart security for our 5 Day on-line roller blind orders over the internet.

7 Day Blind Making Conditions

Made to measure blinds in 7 days applies to selected custom made blind ranges only.

  • Made to measure blinds in 7 days applies to Firenze and Wood Fantasy ranges only (and this is an approximate guide)
  • 7 day time frame only applies to online orders.
  • Blinds will be made in approximately 7 business days subject to material availability. For orders placed after 2pm, the first business day following is day "ONE". Lower North Island customers should allow 2 additional days for transit. South Island customers should allow 3 days.
  • Pease Note: whilst we will be careful and reasonable at all times - we are not responsible for inaccurate measurements or transit damage. Where a customer has made an error in a fulfilled order - we will do our best to correct the blinds wherever possible. In such cases, however, materials, manufacturing and freight charges will apply.

10 Day Curtain Making Conditions

New Curtains in 10 Days is an instore offer only. You must bring in your own measurements. Fabric and linings must be instore at time of order. Curtains will be made in 10 working days.
Offer is not available through our FREE in-home consultancy service. Offer is for a limited time (offer does not run during peak times). Excludes transit days.

Our Returns Policy

At Harvey Furnishings your satisfaction means everything to us - and many of the products we sell can be returned if you later feel they are not right for your home.

Packaged products

  • Most packaged products can be returned within 14 days
  • You must return them in their original packaged condition
  • You will need to show us your receipt and we will need to ensure that any cheque has cleared

Products cut from rolls

  • Sorry – but fabric and other products cut from rolls cannot be returned
  • This includes all special orders
  • Naturally we will credit or replace any faulty product

Clearance products

  • Sometimes Harvey’s is able to offer you special value clearance or ‘sold as is’ products
  • These items cannot be returned

Consumer Guarantees Act

  • Harvey Furnishings will meet its obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act

At Harvey Furnishings we value our client’s privacy. Information collected through our website, retail stores or our in-home consultancy service is for Harvey Furnishings use only. We do not disclose, or sell any of your personal information.

We provide email Newsletters from time to time for customers who sign up instore and on-line. Harvey’s Newsletters contain information about new products and promotional offers. Customers who wish to unsubscribe from this service may do so by clicking on the link at the bottom of the newsletter page. No further emails will be sent.
