A typically old-fashioned style slice made with oats and golden syrup - a super simple classic in our books! Perfect for enjoying while cozied up on the sofa with a hot drink.
270g Rolled Oats
90g Brown Sugar
90g (3 Tablespoons) Golden Syrup
Pre-heat oven to 180°C and line baking tray with non-stick baking paper.
Melt butter, sugar and golden syrup in a large saucepan, then stir in oats until combined.
Press mixture firmly into prepared baking tray and bake for 20-25 mins until lightly golden and bubbling around the edges. When touched it will still feel squidgy but just set - it will firm up as it cools.
Leave to cool completely before slicing.
100g Chocolate Chips (or more; we won't stop you!) - To add a hint of chocolate, once all combined, mix through chocolate chips before pressing into tray and baking. Make sure to leave the mixture to cool down slightly before adding in the chocolate chips otherwise they will all melt.
1 Teaspoon Ginger - For something a little more spicy, add ginger when adding the oats to the melted mixture.
