Super Simple Hummus

Hummus is a staple for many summer gatherings, and is so easy to make at home. Give it a go and impress your guests!


1 400g can of Chickpeas

1 Tablespoon of Tahini Paste

1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Garlic cloves (to taste)

Juice of 1 - 2 Lemons (to taste)

Salt and Pepper (to taste)


  • Rinse Chickpeas under cold water. Drain well and add to food processor with Garlic and Tahini. Process until chopped.

  • Add the Lemon Juice and process until combined.

  • While the processor is running, slowly add the Olive Oil until mixture forms a smooth paste.

  • Season with Salt and Pepper, and add extra Lemon Juice if required.

  • Drizzle more oil on top before serving.

Optional Topping Ideas

  • If you'd prefer something a little less oily, try sprinkling paprika over the top rather than oil before serving.

  • Toasted pine nuts and chopped parsley with a drizzle of olive oil adds a hint of colour and a touch of nuttiness to a plain hummus.

  • For something with a bit of a kick, drizzle over chili oil rather than olive oil.

  • For those who love colour, chop up olives, cucumber and red capsicum into bite sized pieces. Sprinkle over hummus along with crumbled feta and turn your plain hummus into a greek wonderland!
